American Express Starwood Preferred Guest Card - $100 Bonus

American Express is offering 10,000 bonus points when you sign up for their Starwood Preferred Guest Card and make a purchase. (The purchase can be on anything and in any amount.) That’s a great sign-up bonus.
What can you use these 10,000 points for? Here are some of the options you have:
1.) Redeem the 10,000 points for a $100 gift card from various merchants. There are many online and brick-and-mortar retailers to choose from. With some of them, you get even better deals. For example, it just takes 9,5000 Starpoints to get a $100 Amazon gift card.
2.) Redeem the points for up to 3 free nights at Category 1 and 2 hotels.
3.) Redeem the points toward airline tickets. You may transfer your points on a 1:1 basis to the frequent-flyer programs of over 30 major airlines.
As with any rewards card, whenever you use this American Express card, you are earning points. You earn two points for every dollar you spend at Starwood-affiliated hotels and properties (e.g. Four Points by Sheraton, Sheraton, W Hotels & Resorts, Westin and St. Regis, etc.). You earn one point for every dollar spend on everyhing else (e.g. groceries, gas, clothing, etc.). It is up to you to decide when to redeem your points.
Note: This card does come with an annual fee of $45. However, it is waived for the first year. Once your free year is over, in order to avoid the fee, you may just cancel the card or call Amex and try to have the annual fee waived for the second year as well.
