Clear from American Express
People who don’t always pay off their credit card at the end of the month may be interested in Clear from American Express. What’s so special about this credit card? It’s a low-interest card that comes with no fees of any kind. I don’t know of any other card that offers this feature.
From the American Express website: “Clear from American Express has no fees of any kind - no annual, late, over-limit, balance transfer, or cash advance fees.”
That’s not it. The card comes with these features:
* Low Rates: You get 0% Intro APR for up to 1 year on purchases as well as a low 5.99% fixed APR on balance transfers.
* Free Credit Report w/ Score: You also get a credit report with your credit score provided to you free of charge every year.
* Rewards: Get $25 for every $2500 you spend.
Plus, your card entitles you to all those great American Express cardmember benefits. American Express offers so many free benefits I can’t list of all them. I’ll just highlight some of the better ones:
* Car Rental Loss and Damage Insurance: Use your card to rent a car and you can be covered with Car Rental Loss and Damage Insurance at no additional charge.
* Purchase Protection: Items purchased with your card are covered for theft and accidental damage for up to 90 days from the date of purchase at no additional charge. (Coverage is limited to $1000 per occurrence, up to $50,000 per year.)
* Return Protection: If you try to return an item within 90 days from the date of purchase and the merchant won’t take it back, American Express will refund the purchase price, up to $300 per item.
* Extended Warranties: When you pay for an item entirely with your card, the Buyer’s Assurance Plan extends the terms of the original warranty up to one year. For example, let’ s say you buy a laptop with a one-year warranty. American Express will extend the warranty to 2 years.
